As an 80 staff, multi-Location, award-winning business advisory and accounting firm, operating across South East Queensland, Power Tynan reached a critical inflection point in its technology strategy. Having built its business around a long-standing, server-based practice management system, the firm faced increasing constraints on scalability, integration, and operational efficiency. Maintaining and updating the system internally had become unsustainable, while the server environment limited access to modern, cloud-based tools.

To address these challenges, the firm transitioned to Kloud Connect Practice Management. The result was a rapid, low-disruption go-live, improved visibility across workflows and billing, seamless remote access, and the foundation for a single source of truth across the business. Within days, staff were actively working in the new system, and within weeks the firm was rebuilding momentum and capacity.

Introduction

Multidisciplinary accounting firms today operate in an increasingly complex environment. Distributed teams, rising client expectations, and growing reliance on integrated technology demand more than incremental system upgrades. Firms need platforms that enable clarity, connectivity, and control across every aspect of their operations. 

With offices in Toowoomba, Stanthorpe, Brisbane and Roma, the move to cloud-based practice management was not simply a technology upgrade, it was a strategic shift designed to reduce operational risk, improve efficiency, and support long-term growth across more than 70 staff and 16 partners. 

Kloud Connect stood out as a platform purpose-built for multidisciplinary firms — offering the flexibility to manage diverse divisions profitably and the intelligence to share insights seamlessly across the entire firm. Built natively on Microsoft 365, it allows firms to leverage familiar tools such as SharePoint, Power BI, Power Automate, and Copilot. 

The Challenge: Outgrowing a custom, server-based system

The firm had relied on a legacy server based practice management system for many years, shaping much of its internal workflow and operations around it. While this provided familiarity and control, it also introduced growing challenges including ongoing maintenance burden, limited integrations, reduced mobility, and constrained innovation.

Strategic Direction: A Microsoft-first, cloud-based future

A key strategic decision underpinned the firm’s technology review: to become fully Microsoft-based across all software. Kloud Connect aligned with this vision by offering a cloud-native platform designed to integrate seamlessly within the Microsoft ecosystem. 

Client Perspective

Within two to three days, whilst we were still in training, we were able to work as well, which was a big win for us. The one thing we've got now, with KC and moving off a server environment, that I couldn't live without is the ease of access to everything. When I turn on the computer, everything talks to each other, everything links.

Implementation Approach: Planning, Timing, and Change management

The firm placed strong emphasis on pre-work, planning, and change management. The rollout was carefully staged, supported by extensive testing and close collaboration with Kloud Connect. Go Live was on 1 July 2025, and within three to four days, staff were actively working in the system. 

Firm wide system changes impacting billing and WIP require a high level of expertise, precision and attention. Kloud Connect’s team delivered this and combined with a strong feedback loop between the firm and Kloud Connect, were able to manage rapid refinement and optimization, with staff reporting clearer visibility of workflows, improved understanding of billing, and an overall positive experience across all levels of the organisation. 

Conclusion

By adopting Kloud Connect, the firm successfully transitioned from a constrained server-based system to a modern, cloud-native platform, with the ability to manage all the different divisions. The result is improved clarity, seamless access across systems, speed, accessibility, and a strong foundation for future innovation.
